So Long to Long's Peak

This prominent peak in the Rocky Mountain National Park is a treasure of a sight to see. One always hopes there'll be at least one day during the visit when blue skies are the backdrop for this scene. I've been to the Park when cloud cover kept the point concealed the entire time. I've never climbed to the summit though I have hiked to the Boulder Field. I hear The Narrows, a traverse made on a very narrow ledge, is rather harrowing. It's not so much making the trip on your own as it is meeting people going the opposite direction and having to switch positions with them ON the ledge. No thank you. I'll just stay down at the 8650 ft elevation that this picture was taken from and leave the14,259 ft summit to other braver, crazier people.

It's been a real treat to do some landscape photography. That's something I don't do much of in Illinois.
A beautiful scene.
