A Cello Has a Tail

Okay, so that black part is actually called the Tailpiece. It serves to anchor the strings to the body of the instrument at its lower end, interestingly enough, with the help of a part called 'the saddle'. (a future picture) The fine tuners that are a part of the tailpiece were featured in an earlier picture.

The view on black is, well, better for this one.
Amazing detail that I have never noticed before!

This reminded me that at Christmas 2017 at my daughter's, I noticed the cello that I bought her almost 40 years ago leaning against the wall and thought that it would make a nice image - https://365project.org/vignouse/365/2017-12-22. I had no sooner put my camera down than there was a loud 'twang' as the tailpiece parted company with the rest of the cello... all on its own!
