A Hummingbird Moth

For the 30 Days Wild theme ...

What a treat it was to get to see the unusual Hummingbird Moth, an insect that moves and flies just like a hummingbird. They hover, fly backwards, even hum when in flight! My husband spotted it and in my hurry to get a picture of it before it disappeared I didn't make the necessary camera adjustments. It would've been so much better if I'd used a faster shutter speed (and thus a higher ISO) but I was happy to even catch the lovely insect within the viewfinder. I've shared two views here in order to show both the beautiful wings and the unique body shape.
Love how you did this, brilliant editing!

Wonderful capture of this hummingbird moth - they're almost as hard to keep up with as the hummingbird. You really made a great shot of this. Like the way you included the inset showing him at work.

Great capture! I believe I briefly saw one of these recently, but it was gone before it registered what I had seen.
