@jogod Joanne, take a clear 9x13 pan and fill with water, place some colorful paper under it. Set up your camera on a tripod and put a nail in the water where you'll drop the water so you can focus. Then switch to manual focus. Settings should be about ISO 100-200, F14-f16, and 1/200-1/250 shutter speed. On-camera flash. Use an eyedropper and try to drop in same spot each time. And fire. Takes a lot of shots to get just a few. But it's fun.
This is really one of your best of the water drops. Going to have to give this another try. I've copied your directions which is, I think, pretty much how I tried it last time, but now I can really check it. I KNOW I had trouble putting the drop in the same spot each time (or even getting close). This is so neat. Fav
@milaniet Milanie, I taped a straw to a gooseneck lamp which reached over the dish, then placed my eye dropper in the straw so that I could make sure it hit pretty close to the same spot each time. Much better than just trying to aim at the same spot. Good luck and have fun!
@susanalena Susan, yes, I usually use the 100mm macro lens but looks like on this one I used my 18-270 and shot at 200mm. It's easier to get more in focus with the regular lens but you do have to crop quite a bit of the image. With the macro, there is very little cropping to be done, if at all.
