@fbailey I did recently purchase the MIOPS Water Drop Kit which helps but still haven't managed to get exactly what I want yet. And I use 2 speed lights off-camera pointed at my background. I still delete about 90% of my photos the first go through.
@lynne5477 Thanks for quick response. I have attempted this in a brightly lit conservatory (natural sunlight) and my drip kit has consisted of a small plastic bag suspended from a flexible light with a needle puncture in the bag - it often overbalanced, fell in the bowl below and water everywhere!!
@fbailey I used to use a medicine dropper to drop the water. That works well for a single drop but certainly not if you want to try for a collision of drops.
I have read your comment to Felicity, I have tried this in the kitchen with the tap on dripping but those drops are nowhere as stunning as yours! And I have still a problem with the focus.
@jacqbb I use a pie plate (need something better) and fill with water. Then I use a long screw set where my drop will hit. This may take me a few tries to get the screw in the correct place. I focus on the screw threads and then change the camera to manual focus. And, of course, a tripod is absolutely necessary. I used to use a medicine dropper to drop my drops but you have to try and hit the same spot with the drop each time.
@lynne5477 Thank you Lynne for your explanation, i’m going to try that with the screw. Much better than the knitting needle which is always in my shots!
