After a bath in our birdbath, he was shaking and fluffing his wet feathers. He has his wing raised a little and you can see the pretty feathers under his wing.
Robins always leave here for the winter and return in the spring. This is the first one I've seen this year. We had two warm days and today is the first day there wasn't ice in the birdbath. I hope he likes cold weather. Possible snow, ice, and 7 degree temperatures are in the forecast for tomorrow.
Lovely shot of its orange breast against the blue sky! Fav! (Usually robins fly south in the winter for us, too, but this year I've seen lots of robins all through the winter. I wonder if climate change is affecting them. Unfortunately, we've had a brutally cold winter, so I imagine it's been hard on them.)
Great shot. Some of ours stay all winter, the cold doesn't seem to bother them. I had a fish pond that they used to play in even when it was cold enough to freeze.
It’s always wonderful when the summer visitors return after the winter, especially that first one. It always makes me feel that all is well with the world. Lovely shot btw.
A gorgeous shot of this chipper little fellow. The first of our robins are just back too. None too happy about the 30+ cms of snow we had over the weekend.
