He's a beautiful lion - looks so wise. I keep meaning to say the wwf are doing a wildlife photo comp. I think your lions would do very well. It costs but it's a good cause. : )
Magz.... He's the one you are painting??? Ok, at least in my aged eyes (and don't go there if you can at all avoid it.. though I am leaving myself wide open) it looks as though it could be him in your painting.. you, lady, are one whole ball of wax.. talent in all areas... this is magnificent!!!!
@timandelke Eleke, they do seem pretty content. There are three litter mates that have been raised in the zoo. I hate the animals being contained, but I know it's necessary for the survival of some. This zoo works hard at enrichment programs to try and combat the boredom of all the animals.
omg I kept thinking I was looking at my cat. I have never confused cats/lions before. This lion is just gorgeous. And different somehow. Wonderful shot.
I think it is great that you shared the wonderful photo of your painting and now the photo you are using for it. It brings us into your process. Thanks. Have a great afternoon.
@jonna Jonna, you are right. The zookeepers have told me the best time for photos of the lions is in the late afternoon. They are near dinner time and are very active then. If a zoo keeper walks by....they really become quite attentive. In this case, he was trying to stare past me to the flamingos.
Looks like he might have had lots of practice at just staring. This is a very sad picture for me, seeing an old lion who has spent all of his life in captivity.
@brittgow Britt, my hearts breaks also when I see the animals in captivity. I struggle with this as I really do love animals. I know now that some animals need zoos for survival. I support this zoo as I have seen the level of care the animals receive. I wish it could be different too. Thank you for looking.
Don`t expect anything with flowers, they always surprice me .
