Oamaru Stone sculpture by Malcolm Murduck
This impressive statue is being auctioned off to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Malcolm was an architect from Kent who had been in residence at Leeds Castle. He came out to The Oamaru Stone Symposium in 2004 to carve this. Sadly he died at the age of 57 in 2006, suddenly at his home in Herne Bay, Auckland
@marlboromaam@wannabe@austin1966 Oamaru stone has a unique composition for sculpture and building. You can drive a nail into it butnitnhas to be erected in the same horizontal position as when it was quarried. Or it will disintegrate!
There is something special about your keyhole portrait. It is like a spotlight on the sculpture improving its lighting and bringing it alive. Very good POV.
Lovely carving ...hope it raises a lot of money for such a worthy cause!! We had a red cross house, that my son and l spent a lot of time in over the first couple of years of his life...they are so needed...we were 11 hours away from the hospital and made the trip once a week, it was like a home away from home!!
