Down in the Public Gardens here in Oamaru, I went down to see if I could catch the ducklings. No way - they went too fast! I noticed this young lad in another part of the Gardens where there is a Peter Pan Statue.
Robert Milligan, a mayor of Oamaru in north Otago, had seen the children enjoying the statue in the Kensington Gardens and commissioned a statue on the theme of the Never-Never land for the Oamaru Public Gardens. The sculptor was Thomas Clapperton, a pupil of Sir George Frampton. The statue was unveiled in 1927.
There are numerous animals and birds around the sculpture and some of them have become very shiny with childrens hands stroking them. Frogs, a rabbit, Tinkerbells foot, squirrels and mice. This lad was talking to them as he touched them - he was quite alone!
This is so touching. I love children and this boy just tugs at my heart. Great capture, Maggiemae! To add a photo to a discussion, you have to copy the weird code that you can find in the bottom right of your stats (it says copy and paste code). You highlight that code, hit control C, then go to the discussion in question and comment by hitting control V in the comment box. That will add your photo to the theme.
