Not the movie but the real thing. A wildlife lagoon just south of Oamaru where I don't often see as many swans as this. I was in the area at my BookClub meeting so after scoffing loads of asparagus rolls and curried egg and chive sandwiches, I stopped here.
Not the movie! Haha that was an odd movie! Great pic though. What book are you reading? I am reading a teaching professional book, The Wizard of Oz (pretty much different than movie) and Game of Thrones.
@tonydebont Before the arrival of the Māori in New Zealand, a subspecies of the Black Swan known as the New Zealand Swan had developed in the islands, but was apparently hunted to extinction. In 1864, the Australian Black Swan was introduced to New Zealand as an ornamental waterfowl, and populations are now common on larger coastal or inland lakes. Another Australian!
@jankoos@stacyjett There are actually dozens more over this lagoon - I couldn't get them all in one photo - they would be just black spots and tell me a swan that wants to be a black spot!
Beautiful, you don't often see black swans..... I belong to a book club but haven't been for about four months (since 365 took over my life basically!!)
Love the banter between Australia versus NZ !!!!! Black swan was a weird film I disliked it intensely but these are a very different thing....rather beautiful even if they are Ausies!!!
What a fantastic photo, Maggiemae. With all that I have seen at our park and other parks I have never seen a swan in real life. Nice to see so many in a photo.
