I am trying to venture into using more manual settings and getting to know my camera better. I have six settings I can choose from other than the automatic functions....'auto, program shift, shutter priority, aperture, manual and custom. As yet I don't know what difference they all make but after another year I might!
Three good things:
1. Lovely sunshine after a very cold night
2. Snow on the mountains makes a lovely sight
3. Friends visited after 3 months overseas.
@grammyn I think I put it on the manual mode which regulates the speed and the aperture. Wouldn't focus until I got the aperture right - its semi automatic.
Lovely shot of the flowers and good luck with manual. I found that using Aperture priority for things that don't move was my best way into learning manual settings. By setting that and seeing what happened, I learned a lot about DoF as a starting point, and how to adjust the ISO to get the aperture I wanted. You'll have fun!
A really pretty shot and good composition. I've read loads since I got my camera 7 months ago, and I do know what it all does now - but still find the outcomes a bit hit and miss!
This is stunning! So beautiful! The lighting is perfect for the shot!
I am learning the manual function better after shooting exclusively in aperture mode for several months. And Taffy is exactly right... Play with the ISO. It's amazing what bumping it up and down can do for you!
Beautiful capture, it reminds me of those glass paintings thatt are done from the inside of bottles they have a lovely, ethereal glow just like you've caught here.
Hope you have fun playing in manual - good on you for giving it a go !
BTw forgot to say I think I have picked a manual trick up & then next time I have completely forgotten. I am hoping shutter speeds, aperture etc are going to be something that will hit me in a blinding flash of light!!!
@happypat ha ha, Pat! I am just the same- try so many things but after downloading about ten, I don't know which came from what! I suppose I could write it down but that sounds too serious!
Wonderful shot. As far as settings, I seem to bumble along for months and every once in a while, there's an AHA moment. Or in my case, more of a Homer Simpson, "D'oh!"
Congrats on your PP - very well deserved. You are making setting experimentation look easy! Had a very frustrating day yesterday - no experimentation aha moments.
