In our night train to Lisbon we sat here along with a number of multi national travellers for a late dinner. Night Train to Lisbon is a book I attempted to read and gave up but will try again after being in this train!
Three good things:
1. I learnt how to say something in Portuguese, German and Japanese.
2. The train was delayed and dinner was late - 10.30pm so it was great to climb into our narrow bunks and turn the light out!
3. There was no chance we would fall out of these bunks - safety belts over the chest and another at the foot!
My word maggiemae you are living an exciting life at the moment! Dinner & sleeping on a train......so much organisation on this trip...did you & John plan it all or it a specially organised trip? I have made it a fave because of course the clarity of this photo but mostly because I wish I was on it too!
Maggiemae - you are having the most wonderful adventure and I love the scenes you are sharing with us. Especially pleased that you enjoyed your time in France and liked Carcasonne. I saw it first from a motorway rest area and couldn't wait to visit: that was in 1988 and it was on that trip - our first to France - that we decided that we wanted to live here and two visits and a few months later we bought the house that we live in today.
I like this photo because it speaks of night journeys to new and exciting places and a shared adventure with fellow travellers.
Great shot advertising train travel. It took me many months to get through "Night Train to Lisbon" but in the end I was pleased I had persevered. It's tough going but a beautifully written story.
This is such a great shot. Sounds like such a wonderful time, Maggiemae and so glad you are sharing photos along your way and your three good things. Nice to be able to speak a bit of languages, and safety belts over you when you sleep. What an adventure. FAV
