Driftwood by maggiemae

Driftwood

Some storm has happened recently and cast these branches on our beach which is known as Friendly Bay. Above me as I perch on the stones, is being built a tearooms which will have this view. This doesn't sound very good grammar but maybe she won't tell me off!

Three good things;
1. Comma's and apostrophe's are so tricky!
2. Stunning day with warm and sunny weather.
3. A cat who wants to sit on everyone's knee.
Nice shot

We don't care about grammer maggiemae,,,spontaneousness is the thing! Fantastic Friendly Bay...it looks beautiful & fancy a tearoom to visit there.....a special place that's bound to do well! Lovely colours.

I remember these driftwood beaches so well. The colours here are so beautiful
September 24th, 2014
has a very retro feel maggie, the colours remind me of the photo you posted from your archive were you and your friends found a desert island :)

and maybe we should have a driftwood challenge! :-) i love photographing driftwoods although i don't post them much. the blue tones are quite relaxing. who's going to tell you off on your grammar? and i agree with #1. we are having a stunning 'indian summer' that's being predicted to last until after this weekend!

@phil_howcroft You are so right, Phil - its the same place and it does have a blue feel about it for some reason.
September 24th, 2014
@summerfield only its spring here, Vikki and normally quite chilly and breezy - the blossom all blows off!

Fantastic light in this one Maggiemae. The foreground looks totally in contrast to the calm background. As for apostrophes I never can remember and am constantly putting them in and then removing them or moving them...hate the confusion.

@happypat Yes, I could delete the comment and start again - but who wants to be formal and correct all the time! The tearooms are going to sell fish and chips too - a potential photo op!

Lovely shot and wonderful view Maggie.

Wonderful seascape shot

Beautiful pov, comp and processing.

Wow, fav for me
September 25th, 2014
Wowza Maggiemae, this is quite stunning, very nice. Now you tricked me here. I would not have know it belonged to you this time, quite the different look and I like the clarity of the downed tree, very dramatic.

@digitalrn Aha, Rick - can't be too predictable!
September 25th, 2014
A pretty view even with the driftwood, but I like driftwood!
September 25th, 2014
Beautiful capture, wonderful textures and hues. Love it.
September 25th, 2014
Beautiful shot. The tea room will have a nice view.
September 25th, 2014
Wonderful feel to this image! I love all the stones showing in the water!! Great tones!!
September 25th, 2014
What a view -- I like your low POV and emphasis on the driftwood.
September 25th, 2014
@taffy It took me about 5 minutes to lever myself up from these stones under the verandah! Just about fell into the driftwood!
September 25th, 2014
@maggiemae :-) I know the feeling! I've found myself using live view so I don't have to bend as low!
September 25th, 2014
Great capture of the aftermath and the colours and pov are wonderful.
September 25th, 2014
Nice perspective for this capture to show the results of the storm.
September 25th, 2014
The storm is very impressive by the look of the size of the wood.
September 25th, 2014
I like this too. 😊
September 25th, 2014
@yaorenliu Yes, you are so right, Yao! Wasn't here at the time but I can't imagine this huge branch being flung here within the harbour!
September 25th, 2014
Great texture and perspective.
September 25th, 2014
I'm liking the blues and greens in this.
September 25th, 2014
Fabulous driftwood. I sympathise about the levering oneself up bit. I forget the number of times I have been down on the ground, wondering what on earth possessed me, and looking around for some sort of support to get myself back on my feet!
September 25th, 2014
Lovely driftwood. Wish we had more here.
September 25th, 2014

Such a great mood captured here, Maggiemae. Love the wave action!
September 25th, 2014
What an awesome photo, Maggiemae. I love the detailed driftwood in the foreground and the old looking photo in the background. You are sure learning to use your camera well and creating some wonderful processing. Beautifully done and glad you did not fall in towards this. I know that feeling. We sure do a lot to capture our photos. FAV

Wow. Great shot, Maggie. The detail on the downed tree is excellent. The view beyond that is quite lovely!
September 26th, 2014
Such a beautiful view!! A perfect place to have a tea room!! Lovely shot - your pov down with the driftwood is just right. I have that problem too - once I get down I can't get up!!
September 26th, 2014
@pamknowler I find that putting a fist down on the ground helps - hopefuly nobody comes over asks if I need help!
September 26th, 2014
