Another cloud photo but it really was dramatic. At first, it seemed to roll in from the south in black folds of clearly formed layers. All along the foreshore of Oamaru I saw photos being taken. My first photo was up one of hills but by the time I had got down to the beachfront, it had swirled, rolled and metamorphosed! It that is a word!
. After this shot, the wind gusted the harbour water into frills of dark colour and it became cold enough for me to zip back home and stay inside!
The end result was a nice rain shower with very thick drops to wet our parched countryside
Three good things;
1 A uklelele concert at a rest home brought smiles.
2.The plan to mow the lawn with the catcher on worked with the rain coming in afterwards.
3. Hubby doing more exercise after a heart condition identified. Never before!
Wow what a stunning scene!! The sky is incredible!! My holiday to NZ was called the Land of The Long White Cloud - perfect for this shot!! Fav
I did my first cut of the lawn yesterday too - great to be able to do it so early in the year. Hope the exercise helps your husbands condition!!
A perfect very long white cloud maggiemae...this is the longest & thickest I have seen! Beautiful harbour scene with all those small boats & it looks a very nice walk out along that long outcrop of land. Poor John, that must have been a bit of a shock to him.....he looks so healthy too! Never mind what you know about you can deal with & therefore live a better lifestyle.
@happypat Its a lovely walk as well as cycle trail here, Pat. At one time I thought it better not to know about what is wrong with you - that applies to me though, not J. One advantage of exercise is that you sleep better.
@judithg There was no thunder, just very large rain drops, Judith. I should have sent this photo to TV1 as they like to show peoples photos but I didn't think of it.
Such an amazing shot of those clouds. So glad you got much needed rain. What a wonderful concert to do. I remember music being brought into the home my Dad was in. I am glad your husband is doing what he needs to do to take care of himself I hope he does well. FAV
Wow! Is this a result of the cyclone down in your neck of the woods? I know it's not hitting you but I imagine the storm itself has a large area it affects. Great shot!
@olivetreeann No, this is a result of two front colliding apparently. The cyclone is not due to hit the far north till Sunday night, Ann. Could be soe big waves coming in here after that!
Great sky as it rolls over that hill. Personally, I probably would have cropped the image so as not to include the chimney? The telegraph poles and the bit of land all on the left of this shot. this would then have made the sky more of a dominating feature. Fav
@gamelee I can see what you mean, Lee - the 'chimney[' is too dominant. However its part of the steam punk atmosphere of this area and I just didn't think about it. Thank you for your fav!
A beautiful capture - looks so tornado-like. I'm in catch up mode again. .. puppy is sleeping and the soft rain falleth. We had a bit of a stiff breeze but hurricane Pam had no time to call in on us yesterday.
@snaphappi I do envy you with your puppy, Maggie! Thank you for all your nice comments - I'm working on that idea with Ruby - she doesn't go so well through rough grass!
I did my first cut of the lawn yesterday too - great to be able to do it so early in the year. Hope the exercise helps your husbands condition!!
(like you, i don't want to know, let me just go during sleep.)
