Night light in Harbour Street by maggiemae

Night light in Harbour Street

An historic part of Oamaru and one which is becoming more popular with tourists alongside the Penguin show.

Cobbled street with a tram line down one side, it is flanked by old and huge Oamaru stone buildings, three storey and with 12 foot studs, some of them!

The street where I practice ukelele on Monday nights and the night is getting darker and colder as the days get shorter!

Have to apologise to the first commenters! I decided the light was too flashy and yellow so have subdued it somewhat now!

Three good things:
1 Not having to get up in the morning to go to work or do anything for that matter!
Some dreams are better not to come true!
My chicken, leek and mushroom pie lasted three meals!
I love the shot - the colors - good job.

Great shot and processing, quite moody/atmospheric

@graemestevens There might be a Graeme Stevens lookalike, lurking in the shadows!
April 20th, 2015
it does give the mood of foreshadowing, as if some creature or someone is going to appear from that darkness and catch you offguard. the processing just made it moodier.

The street lighting makes the scene quite spooky. Didn't know you played the ukulele, it's a lovely instrument

@tristansmum Thanks Stephanie - perhaps a witch or two - we do have a wizard that appears round town now and then!

Did you change this color out, or do my screens look that different?
April 21st, 2015
@tigerdreamer Yes, I thought it too garish and yellow. I did it about 10 minutes ago so sorry if it is confusing, Karen!

@congaree Thanks John - I was playing with the light and thought this shade of orangey/yellow was better than my original which was sort of lime green, electric yellow!

I have in my old photo files a picture: me, sitting on the edge of the pavement, exactly this road (bright sunlight), stroking a little cute dog. So for me, just a lot of good memories, and not creepy at all. So funny. But I like your picture very much, and the processing is fabulous.
April 21st, 2015
@mona65 I would love to see it! Perhaps you could post it on an alternative album?

Gorgeous shot with great processing!! I love not having to get up in the morning to go to work!! Especially in the winter when the trains were delayed by snow or leaves on the line!!
April 22nd, 2015
Being so deserted it looks like a good place for a woman not to be alone.
April 22nd, 2015
@skipt07 I was going to say, Skip that it is safe as houses here but last Sat - early Sun morning, there were two people attacked here in separate incidences! Just too much booze!
April 22nd, 2015
Very cool processing.....love the light in this, and also was quite intrigued by that Oamaru stone.....sounds lovely and plentiful in that area.
April 22nd, 2015
