Its Autumn here but the trees have blown most of their wonderfully coloured leaves away. I tested Sophie’s boot to see whether it took my folded up electric bike! John had to remove the seat and there was no problem. After re-assembling this bike, I cruised down the road with the wind behind me! If I flapped my wings I would have taken off!
There is a lovely rural church here situated overlooking the North Otago valleys and hills so I took photos from the front, the rear and the side! All the time listening to cars screaming down this rural road so. being aware, I didn’t have any difficult situations.
Three good things;
1. I didn’t expect this one in B&W to be my favourite
2. I found a dead owl, an apple in a plastic bag and a young runner on my journey down the bike trail here! He raised his hand in a quick response, which the owl did not!
3. I somehow got John on a history trail of his early childhood experiences. He has had 19 different places where he lived from the age of 14 to 18! Thats incredible! I just wish I had a tape recorder!
@chard Thats something I really must do, Richard. I think there might be a window that will look out on to a great rural landscape! I'm always a bit scared someone - the vicar or similar might confront me and ask me if I want to come on Sundays!
@nickspicsnz The B&W gave it light and shadow whereas the coloured photo meant the church was all in the black and as a silhouette! B&W is so good, I reckon!
Great architectural shot! Though in the narrative I admit I was trying to figure out why you'd put an electric bike in a 'boot' as in 'footwear' -- then realized of course you meant 'trunk'! I love the 365 language differences that come through even when all writing in English.
@yaorenliu No, I cheated, Yao - got a ride in the car with the bike in the boot (trunk) then coasted back home! The wind was at my back all the way - annoying in some ways as it blew my hair over my face and I couldn't see!
Wonderful b&w image. Sorry to hear about the owl - eating poisoned mice perhaps although that I hear the cause of death of most moreporks is flying into things.
you could've used the video function of your camera to record john's reminiscing! that would have been pricesless! 19 places in a span of 4 years! that is incredible! the black and white brings out a whole lot of details in a photo like this yet doesn't make it cluttered.
Don't go that way on a Sunday maggiemae!
A very atmospheric photo .....the detail is incredible.......the little church & the way the road runs past & down the hill......feet on handlebars going down I think!!
@happypat I never did that, Pat - feet on handlebars! I can't even get near that position now. There was no activity near this church at that time - probably on once a month nowadays!
This is a fabulous B&W shot, Maggiemae. Has a bit of an eerie feel to it. Wow, John moved a lot in such a few years. A tape recorder would have been nice. Maybe next time when reminiscing. FAV
Pretty little church and lovely shot. I thought of the video function in your camera too. You can record that way- or some cell phones do this as well. New territory for you to explore!
