Elbows on the table and while I enjoyed my coffee and a wonderful spicy and sultana biscuit, I thought about getting a shot of this new fern shoot in our pot plant on the table. Its totally fascinating watching a single frond extend then burst into leaf. In the background was a scarf over the back of a chair and I wanted to get that colour into the shot!
Three good things:
1. Too cold to do anything here - snow everywhere except our particular tropical spot on the east coast but still got down to 3’deg!
2. Cooked smoked fish for the first time in my life! I didn’t know whether to eat it as bought - looked raw, or cook it! Made smoked fish cakes with mashed potato and tons of parsley from the garden which was quite good.
3. Watched a western movie for the first time in ages and it was delightful - Clint Eastwood and Shirley McLaine… Two Mules for Sister Sara - 1970! Of course an awful lot of people got killed!
Love the way you composed this shot maggiemae......given a great deal of proper thought to what will actually make up this picture. A simple shot made special by the added features! Sounds cold but you were still sitting out...I know even your winter sun is warm on a cloudless day.
Love the way you composed that unfurling fern against that colorful background! Did you know that fern spirals follow the same Fibonacci sequence in nature as they unfurl? I find them fascinating....here is one of the many cool articles on that: http://www.divinetemplatecreations.com/sacred_geometry/fibonacci.html
@panthora Thanks Osia - that web address didn't seem to work! Very interesting - you know far more than I do particularly what "fibonacci" means! But I'm going to find out!
Really love this Maggiemae, fav. I love the dof and the use of the background scarf to make a wonderful, colourful bokeh. I didn't realize it got as cold as that in NZ. Hope you have an easy winter.
Lovely unfurling spiral in this emerging baby. Also, thanks to @panthora for that article... fascinating correlations to be seen all around us. For some reason, the thought of you watching that western movie way down in NZ gives me a smile.
Thanks for all the fabulous comments on my photo's :)
