Marise: "This is mine, all mine"!
Martin: You get off that bowl, you’ve been there for too long”
Ringeye 3, “Oh for heavens sake - Martin and Marise are arguing again!
I got carried away on my geology shot yesterday and couldn’t get enthused. But put out honey water, not bread soaked honey and these birds flooded in! I tried with manual and got wing blurs then put the settings on speed and it was better!
Three good things:
1. A rugby match is important tonight and a friend has just FB’d me that she is in Mexico and wants to know the score! Unfortunately by the time its on it will be about 3am there!
2. Loved my day on 365 - all over the world and SUCH good photos!
3. With my legacy I thought, in the middle of night, that I could use the money to publish the 91500 words I have typed from my Mother’s 1929 journal, traversing the British Isles in a 1928 Morris Oxford convertible! Needless to say, I didn’t sleep a wink after that thought!
We get all our best ideas at night .......sounds exciting! Your photo is a fave too.......they look really in a full throttle row ...your light is lovely!
@grammyn I don't think anyone would accept this writing to publish so I have to pay for the publication which can be expensive, Katy. Done for the family as you say!
Firstly congratulations on making the top 20. Well done you. I see the resemblance between these and our brown honey eaters. Very popular treat by the look of it,
Top shot Maggiemae!! These are such gorgeous little birds!! I love the sound of you publishing your Mother's journal - how interesting would that be and a treasure for your family!! Fav for your fab shot!!
I love to watch the birds bicker at the lunch counter. :) Your light is very nice... not much motion blur, either! I thought yesterday was a nice day on 365, too... there are tons of good shots out there.
Absolutely wonderful -- you captured them so well in the middle of all their squabbling . those saucer like eyes and the light really makes this a wonderful shot ! fav
@philcameron59 thanks for your comment, Phil! I'll probably have to option to publish online as well as hard copy! Its fascinating reading in those days!
Love the lighting! I sure have been noticing how the young birds do fight ... just like human siblings! Pulling feathers and such! Funny and cute! Nice job!
Fabulous capture of the argument!
And what a great idea to publish/print your mother's journal. I remember it was fascinating to read. There are many publishers that would do it, but I'll dig out the details of one that I've used and forward asap.
@maggiemae
I remember them very well. My first year on 365 was in 2011. I took a (long) break in 2013/14, but I started again on January 1st this year.
First- fantastic shot! An instant fav. Secondly- I think it's a great idea to publish your mother's journal- not just for your family. I honestly think it would interest anyone who likes history from a personal pov. And the pictures you posted with the pieces you shared here would be a great addition! You might like to look into the e book format. Less expensive to publish that way and you can sell them on Amazon. That was the recommendation from my daughter-in-law who did up a cook book of her grandmother's recipes. She went to Createspace.com. I believe you have to order one copy up front and then you can put it out on Amazon.
@olivetreeann I was lucky with this shot I would like to give a hard copy to our boys and to my two sisters so that would be 5 hard copies and the rest might go online!
What a great idea to put that out for them and love your photo and commentary. You have a wonderful sense of humor. It is fun to dream away or not shut down for the night. I am sure you will put the money to good use. 365 is a wonderful way to see the world. Wish I could keep up with it more like before but feel great that I can come and go as I need to and know most people I have contact with on here will still be here and if not will be on FB. FAV for your wonderful photo.
What a great shot, Maggie. Honey water? How much honey and how much water? I may want to give this a go to see if I attract any winged creatures. I still haven't been able to figure out how to not get motion blur in my shots. I've tried my sport setting, my speed shot setting (which is what I used to capture my lightning), my other speed setting but not working. My super speed shot setting that I used to take shots of lightning is like rapid machine gun fire fast and that doesn't even work. I am extremely frustrated and thinking of returning this camera and changing it for something comparable to my older camera since I can't seem to get good shots out of this. I am always having to despeckle every single photo - whether it's macro or auto. It's annoying. Anyway - this is great. Fav.
@prttblues A lot of the automatic functions on the computer put a high ISO on automatically! I find its better to regulate the ISO and not go above 200 as that produces a grainy look. Your aperture could then be adjusted to suit as well as a faster speed than normal. If I use a higher speed then the aperture is reduced and it becomes dark so its important to get plenty of light on the subject! I do waffle on...... thanks for all your marvellous comments and favs!
Awesome shot and a fav. I hope you find a reasonable way to get your book published. It's really tough these days -- take it from one who knows -- to get published and you're right, self-publishing is so expensive. I have a novel that's been "resting" in the computer for over 12+ years and just don't have the energy to go through all that plus I'm always re-editing when I do have the chance to look at it.
What a wonderful way to spend that money sort of like keeping it in the family!

I remember you posted parts of your Mother's journal here. It was very interesting to read!

Love this shot of the sqabbling birds, must like any family!
Wow, what a great idea to publish, go for it!
