Hubby has grown his whiskers and I think they look fab! He doesn’t like the word ‘trendy’ or ‘fashionable’ so I can’t use that to stop him shaving it all off!
Thought I’d try for a good portrait which I really worked at.
Three good things:
1. One of our female bookclub members wanted John to kiss her to see what a beard felt like! That was a good incentive!
2. He said its stopped being prickly - another good thing
3. Bike ride down the Trail today was peaceful with lots of rural scenes!
Ooh he looks quite distinguished! Always wondered what a kiss from a beard would feel like....shows I have led a sheltered life!
A very quizzical expression....I wonder what John is thinking? Are the suitcases down yet...oh yes they are I saw them!
@happypat John is being agreeable - just obeying my instructions for a smile! Suitcases went back up actually, Pat but we thought we would get them down today to confuse the cat!
A great portrait -- I love John's facial expression as if he is humouring you !! The whiskers suit him making him look quite distinguished !!! Super sepia and edit
@nickspicsnz Can you see the twinkle in his eye, Nick! When people ask him where he's come from, he always replies....'from the twinkle in my Daddy's eye!'
My husband goes on a "non shaving kick" every now and then. Being retired, he gets lazy with it! He'll keep it awhile and shave it off. Personally, I like him clean shaven, but I do have several portraits of him with the whiskers and/or full beard.
This is a fabulous portrait. I love how it leans towards posterization, but not quite and the lighting is coming in from the side. Great expression and his individual whiskers show up nicely. Quite handsome he is!
@maggiemae@aglennc I grew mine the day after I retired from the Army in 1983 after 20 years of compulsory shaving. Have had it ever since, just the length varies.
John may not like fashionable or trendy but he is now 'Trending' so is that ok.... @happypat has led a very sheltered life lol... you will have to get Harry to grow a beard...
@maggiemae funnily enough he had a bit of a beard when we got home as he forgot to put his shaver in the overnight bag....first stop was the bathroom to shave it off when we got our cases unpacked!
@happypat Show him this photo, Pat - he would be the same as John - not want to be have thatrendy shaped beard that some men have! I just think that it looks like personality plus!
A very quizzical expression....I wonder what John is thinking? Are the suitcases down yet...oh yes they are I saw them!
