Being woken up at 6am by our son who is in Canada to tell us about the earthquake in NZ is so similar when he rang in the middle of the night from Fort Lauderdale to tell us he was safe in the time of 9/11!
Horrifying to hear at the end of the day of the destruction of the whole village systems of so many small places, we remain happy that we are safe. Our pets, our health, our family in so many parts of the world!
Three good things:
I. took this photo from across the valley from our (tsunami free) ridge in Oamaru. Ours is the orange roof and the next roof is the green house where I make baby kale .. and baby tomatoes!
2. Skype from family in England -we could hear them but they couldn’t hear us - lots of nodding etc.
3. My recurrent eye problems diagnosis was eyelashes turning inward into my eye! My cornea was scratched! Should I look the other way and they will grow accordingly?
So pleased you are safe Maggiemae!! Such awful pictures on the news of the destruction North of Christchurch. I hope everyone gets lots of help very soon!! Lovely view with your house. A beautiful place to live although a bit scary at the moment!!
Ooh I wouldn't have recognised your house from here Maggie, never looked upwards to look at the colour of your roof! Great view of your immediate neighbourhood. Thank goodness all is calm there, such destruction higher up!
@happypat Its a different look but this is where we look north, Pat. The long house in front of ours was built after we had bought and obstructs the northern view quite considerably!
Nice view :) Glad to know you are safe. My daughter is still waiting to go home but her and the children are all safe and warm with other family in Rolleston. Still some shaking there but not like at her home in New Brighton.
So glad you're all safe.
great to see your home
