The Nelson Lakes lie amongst huge mountains which have been the cause of a number of casualties in the wild trails. We found a gravel area for camping courtesy of the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association and had a pleasant stay.
Down at the lake there was a Regatta planned but my camera battery went flat after I’d taken a few photos as this one. Minimised the colour as there was not much contrast in this scene.
Three good things:
1. A great cleansing shower as we checked into a hotel in order for John to take a US/NZ conference call.
2. Recharged all our computers etc.
3. I’m keeping up my diary to record all these wonderful experiences within NZ!
This is such a gorgeous photo and wonderful processing too, Maggiemae. The kids add so much to this photo as well You have a great idea and I need to do the same thing, a diary to record our adventures too. I hope one day we can spend the time you and John are spending on the road. Enjoy and safe travels! FAV
I love the choice of processing for thsi shot and the subject. Most excellent choice of low POV too.
#3 is there another book in the making of YOUR travels?!
@grammyn Now that would be in the too hard basket, I feel, Katy! I have a son who writes very well and he could do it but far too busy for the next 10 years!
@happypat They were discussing the eels down there under the pier - there can be a lot but I didn't see any! John thought we could catch one for tea! ugh!
This looks like the start of some Grimm's fairy tale - where childhood friends eventually fall in love but then she dies tragically young which spurns him on to ruthlessly seek to rule the world.
@daweenie Oh goodness, Daweenie - a tragic tale - mine would be better.... he has made a new friend in this holiday area and they promise to write to each other until they are old enough to leave home and travel the world together!...?
