The Sinking by maggiemae

The Sinking

This has a great history and as I found these copies of the cartoons just yesterday, I wanted to dedicate them to my husband - who has done this often ( three times!)
The story is we got stuck in the local river, couldn’t move, flooded, I opened the back doors and the dog swam out!! Can you believe that! Anyway the local cartoon man got hold of this and penned this for the local public!

This was years ago.... like about 10!

Three good things:’
1. That I have kept these - the very skilled originator ( a friend of ours) died some years ago1
2. The car eventually dried out … but the alarm system didn’t work and would start screaming in the middle of a dark dark, night!
3. I’m glad we don’t have a 4X4 any more!
Very talented friend ... but not so clever John... but makes a funny story... would look good in a little frame... and place it near Johns chair... Thanks for sharing..

@fbailey He was a golden retriever, and the word 'was' is rather sad for me!

Love the cartoons! Such a funny story! I bet John doesn't see the funny side!

@pamknowler He knew he was to blame but didn't seem to be apologetic! He's a secret adventurer!

Cute illustration and so nice that you weren't harmed during the flood!

@fbailey I should have mentioned, - this was years ago!

Hysterical story but probably NOT at the time. I love that it was immortalized in cartoon form AND that you still have it!

@grammyn He was so good at cartoons and poems Katy! You are right about not being amused at the time - or the next time!

Why a great cartoon to go with this funny story - even though it certainly wouldn't have been so funny for you at the time. I love the cleverness of the cartoon and the cartoonist.
April 12th, 2017
@maggiemae LOL! I imagine after the third time you were more exasperated than anything!
April 12th, 2017
@grammyn I would then plan routes that were not anywhere near rivers, Katy!

What a story! How cool that you have a cartoon series to remember it all!
April 12th, 2017
What a story -- since it was 10 years ago, I could laugh at it! Cool cartoon.

You do have an interesting life for sure. Neat that your friend drew what happened.

Brilliant and I know not funny then but it is very funny seeing it here.

I learned this on a First Aid course many years ago. Please read it.

@s4sayer Thanks Margo - in fact I asked John what to do and he told me exactly this. A car went off the road recently and into the sea. Driver got out but passenger drowned.

Very funny story. Good to have the memento.
April 12th, 2017
I take it you followed the dog out the back door?
April 15th, 2017
@skstein I'm the one standing on the roof of the car!
April 15th, 2017
@maggiemae that's too funny. I couldn't magnify the image enough to read the tiny print, or I would have realized that.
