One scene taken on the train - the Dallas skyline and multi roadway system!
More squashed bus sitting this afternoon to get to Longview where we once more boarded the train. The lady made my bed up the wrong way, my reading light was good for foot reading. A conductor had an argument with John - nothing was happening and he said, we (staff) need to have time to eat but they had been at Longview for an hour before. John said to him, "You are being paid to do this trip, we have paid to have the service" Conductor took offence and I eventually interrupted him told him his attitude was not a good look for the train.
Three good things;
1. My iPhone alarm went at 3.20 informing me of a police search in Missouri! But I went back to sleep after the 2nd alarm went! Bumpety bump and continuous train wailing.
2. Sat at dinner with an elderly (80's) Jewish couple who loved John's humour. They had 43 great grandchildren!
3. Heading towards Chicago.
You are having an adventure! I admire your tenacity both in the travel & sticking up for yourselves. Yes definitely eat while waiting not hold up the train! This is a complete change from the desert! 43 grandchildren, good lord!
@happypat Great grandchildren, Pat - maybe Jews are encouraged to get on with it! Yes - no desert here but we did have dessert, Pat - chocolate pudding. I read chocolate was good for AF - heart condition that John has.
This is a terrific picture especially if you took it from the train! I imagine that gentleman needed to have his attitude adjusted and so glad John took the time. Sorry your iPhone is waking you up in the middle of the night with inconsequential news. By the way if I have that number I could call you. You can post it on an old picture of mine if you don't want to put it out there for everyone… Or not at all if you don't want me to have it either 😜
@grammyn Oh, sorry, Katy forgot you didn't have my new number: its 9514628877. Might be out treading the streets of Chicago for a while but probably in around 6pm!
What an unhappy Conductor. You and John were right. So its not smooth riding on a train? Plus your lamp was by your feet? What a nice couple to have dinner with and a huge family. I cannot imagine. I hope you enjoy Chicago. This is a great photo, Maggiemae. Enjoy your trip. I need to catch up.
What a time you are having! I don't know anyone who has actually traveled by train to all the places you are seeing. We Americans tend to drive our cars everywhere. You're are certainly getting an interesting perspective.
That is definitely the most interesting photo.of Dallas that I have ever seen. A fav. AS to point # 2, I wonder how many of their grandchildren were not-so-great.
