Observing

Missed breakfast as it was too early .- 6.30 is just not on! Sat in the observatory cabin with coffee where this photo was taken. There was a shady looking character in the end seat behind John (reading the paper) but he turned out to be harmless.

Three good things:
1. Chicago seemed good until we were told by a local to keep a lookout for people following us. Keep a knife in the pocket, she advised! Help!
2. Our rooms always seem to be at the very end of a long passage - - good for walking.
3. Another dreamy bed!
Great candid photo

@s4sayer thanks Margo - there seemed to be lots of spaces on this leg - could sit anywhere and enjoy the view!

my country seems alien and familiar in your travels. Enjoy my hometown! (chicago) not to worry. It's not the wild west.

@francoise Good to hear, Francoise but in lots of big cities there are small gangs that go around stealing stuff from who is obviously a tourist.

Neat perspective, light in this cool shot :)

Your processing has made this one look especially nice on black! I was wondering if you were up yet. I think your advisor was crazy about Chicago too. If you stay in the public places and don't go out at night alone you will be fine.

Great processing and shot.

Good grief -- that is a great picture on the train, but I'm surprised at the advice you've been given about Chicago! I assume you are not hanging out in sketchy neighborhoods? I wish I were in town to greet you and take you about! It looks like your train trip has been wonderful -- what fun! If you have any questions don't hesitate to email me while you are there (I'll delete this message after I know you have my email): teraphael 'at' gmail.com
Have a GREAT time while there!

Wonderful view of the interior of this car, pretty cool!

@taffy Got it thanks Taffy! Only here overnight. All areas around rail stations are a bit dubious I think 🙃
June 1st, 2017
@happypat it is a great way to travel - the best trip being the Canadian Rockies.
June 1st, 2017
Bus stations and rail stations can be an interesting mix of people but I have never heard of carrying a knife in Chicago! I have only been on layover at the airport though! Taffy says you will be A-OK! Enjoy!

very cool shot, great POV and composition

I really like this shot the way you've captured people lost in their own thoughts. Very unique. Fav.

Taking a train trip across the country has always been on my "someday" list. The train looks quite modern in décor. Glad the "shady guy" was harmless!
June 2nd, 2017
@olivetreeann He didn't read or have a mobile! Just put his head in his hands and obviously just 'thought'!
June 2nd, 2017
looks like a great place to do a spot of people watching.
June 2nd, 2017
A great capture, interior & reflections, people, & I can see how fast the train is moving...a dreamy bed makes up for most things we experience while travelling.
June 2nd, 2017
@happysnaps If you don't sleep well on the train - too much noise, jiggling, hard mattress etc, you can make up for it in a dreamy bed!
June 2nd, 2017
I love watching people - so fascinating. This is a cool candid shot from the interior of the train.
June 2nd, 2017
Great shot and pov. All big cities have their bad boys. Watch your back.
June 2nd, 2017
Great shot of coffee hour on the train. Looks quite modern.

Stunning shot, like your editing skills.
June 2nd, 2017
Graet shot, wachting people and fleeing landscape.
June 2nd, 2017
Awesome capture and sense of speed. Fav. Keeping a knife in your pocket? That is really scary. I don't even have the guts to kill an ant!
June 2nd, 2017
Love the seats facing the windows, great idea
June 2nd, 2017
I am not sure I enjoy have a knife in my pocket.
June 2nd, 2017
So different to UK trains. Super pov and capture.
June 2nd, 2017
That seems like really weird Chicago advise...I was there two weeks ago and it was lovely, people were friendly, no probs anywhere! Unless you are in really dicey neighborhoods, you should have a lovely time. Take a ride on the river for one of the architectural tours if you have the chance.

@granagringa Good to hear all the good vibes that my comment eventuated. Only one night in Chicago but we have been in
Chicago before. Looking forward to Canada....
