Observing

Missed breakfast as it was too early .- 6.30 is just not on! Sat in the observatory cabin with coffee where this photo was taken. There was a shady looking character in the end seat behind John (reading the paper) but he turned out to be harmless.

Three good things:
1. Chicago seemed good until we were told by a local to keep a lookout for people following us. Keep a knife in the pocket, she advised! Help!
2. Our rooms always seem to be at the very end of a long passage - - good for walking.
3. Another dreamy bed!

Good grief -- that is a great picture on the train, but I'm surprised at the advice you've been given about Chicago! I assume you are not hanging out in sketchy neighborhoods? Bus stations and rail stations can be an interesting mix of people but I have never heard of carrying a knife in Chicago! I have only been on layover at the airport though! Taffy says you will be A-OK! Enjoy!

That seems like really weird Chicago advise...I was there two weeks ago and it was lovely, people were friendly, no probs anywhere! Unless you are in really dicey neighborhoods, you should have a lovely time. Take a ride on the river for one of the architectural tours if you have the chance.
