A Prickly Dilemma by maggiemae

A Prickly Dilemma

Not much inspiration today but took a photo of this wonderful holly hedge which runs alongside our local lawn tennis courts! How I wish I was agile and strong enough to play tennis again!

Three good things:
1. Cooked oxtail today and it took over 8 hours - so delicious!
2. Our motorcaravan got a lot of comments today when we took it into town - to get a cover made for it; some shower curtains; and a tiny plant to go in a shelf.
3. Off in a couple of days to a Blossom Festival in Central Otago!
Great DoF!!

How pokey! Did you get scraped?

@alophoto I stood quite a distance away and used my zoom which did not get poked, Amanda!

Lovely to plan & not have to think ahead & book in somewhere! I suppose you just park up where you like in NZ! Very nice Dof here!

@happypat We tend to go to caravan parks where we can plug in the electricity, Pat - use wifi and shower in the facilities. Save our own water and gas. Its very nice when they are deserted and when they are full its fun to people watch from your own private and comfy lounge!

@joannakate Yes, it is very English Joanna - and Oamaru has several big hedges like this which I have not seen in many other places!

Well we certainly got the prickly message from the excellent detail here. Works so well as a half and half. We have one of these holly bushes by the front gate - at times we neglect to trim it as well as the one in your picture and guests get a prickly reception. It is time for it to go.

@helenhall You do have a prickly dilemma then!

@phil_howcroft Its funny how when you initially open a photo and barely glance at the comments but you find you have repeated someone else's!

Lovely capture. I never played tennis, it was never my favourite sport. Football (soccer) was my craze.

A Holly Hedge must look beautiful and I bet squirrels stay away from that prickly stuff. seeing and hearing about your upcoming trip reminds me of when we had a small camper and visited many official camping places for the same reason.
September 21st, 2017
@bruni We don't have squirrels here, Bruni! Nobody or nothing would be hiding in this hedge!
