Raglan Colours by maggiemae

Raglan Colours

Happy to leave Auckland and its queues of traffic all day, behind, we drove into this little seaside place, Raglan, well known for its surf.
This was one of the buildings I wanted to photograph but had to wait for ages for a truck parked in front, to move!
Three Good Things:
1. Overnight stay in the grounds of the Raglan Club. Plenty of parking life to watch and rugby was on the big screen after a really good dinner.
2. Able to recharge my computer at the Club.
3. Postcard scenes down by the water.
I love Raglan one of our regular haunts when our youngest son lived nearby. Love it's charm & relaxed lifestyle. I recognise this building! There is an amazing coast road south which takes you along a very scenic route, wouldn't be suitable for your camper I don't think but I will always remember that road.

Raglan is such a cool place ... so vibrant .. perhaps we should go and have a winter break there..

@happypat I noticed that road on the maps, Pat - think I'll stick to the main roads though.

@julzmaioro Its cool and raining at the moment - not looking so vibrant!

@maggiemae I think you would be wise, it was narrow in some parts but fab views.

@happypat Can you remember if it was gravel or tarseal?
April 20th, 2018
@maggiemae gravel maggie. Go out for fish & chips to the little pier, a lovely pottery shop there too. That fish & chip shop is our favourite place.

@happypat thanks for that Pat! Gravel makes it a definite no. Might investigate the little pier! But raining and cool today!

@maggiemae twisty roads too, I remember being quite worried as Jo drove the car along, Ant was fencing along there so we met up. Fish shop is brill, you can buy all sorts in that shop & a great place to eat either in or out. A leather shop there too.

My favourite seaside town, under an hour from us. The road Pat is talking about, is definitely not one for a camper van, but she's right the views are fantastic. And yes, it's gravel

@grammyn The sun was shining when I took this photo - today it was raining all over and didn't look the same!

@elatedpixie I thought art deco too but didn't see any others like it though there was an old original two storey hotel!

Is it on a really steep hill? It's kind of Leaning Tower of Pisa-like. But what glorious colours. Someone with a lovely imagination painted that.

@casablanca Yes it is on a hill, you do not have to think your head is on sideways! They did choose the best colours!

Raglan is a great place to visit. I like your image of the old Municipal building, I bet the colours are a bit brighter than the original ones.
