Breaking the waves by maggiemae

Breaking the waves

A breakwater that has been here in our harbour since the 1880's. Due to tourists walking along it constantly while waves crash over it in huge and high sprays of water, it has now been locked for access.
Three good things:
1. Just along here where I stood is the Penguin Colony with no penguins visible but at least 15 lazy lumps of seals.
2. North Otago has plenty of drives around that pleasantly passes the afternoon in a warm car.
3. Forgot to serve the bread sauce with the roast chicken but it will freeze well.
Too bad it's locked- but better that than drowning tourists! (Even if their intelligence gene pool should be eliminated!) Great waves.

I just love watching the waves on the breakwater in Newcastle. That access is blocked too in high seas, we can't have people being washed off the rocks can we. The other day when we were there though it was rather calm

Love this wild seascape, no wonder they closed the breakwater. Probably have overseas tourists out there with selfie sticks aloft.

Fabulous capture, love the wave waiting to break over the lumps of Seals ;-)

@ludwigsdiana The seals were behind us, Diana! The lumps out there were some sort of concrete pods to break up the force of the sea. I'll post a pic of a seal.
