Future Crop by maggiemae

Future Crop

Another photo of the cherry tomato plant that is literally climbing to the ceiling. Several of the flowers have dropped off and tiny little tomatoes are forming! They are about the size of a marble now.'
Thankful for:
Our new rhubarb - the first pickings. Its twice as flavoursome and almost a vibrant red after cooking!
Mmm, I love the hairs on the stalks! Lovely light on these future tomatoes! Fresh rhubarb? What a treat!

@dide If I look carefully next time I go out to the glasshouse, I just might see Jack, Dianne!

I love this “bugs eye view” POV

Lovely fuzzy stems.

Lovely shot. Great detail. Cherry tomatoes are the least of my favourites among the tomato species.

@beryl There are actually three tomatoes there, Beryl!
January 6th, 2021
@maggiemae Ooh gosh ! yes there is - my eyes are sore today - been too much on line , TV etc !
January 6th, 2021
@beryl You just must look after those eyes, Beryl! I've got glaucoma and have to put in drops! Some people go blind with that!

It's great to watch the plant grow and bear fruit
. Lovely shot.

You are happy gardeners maggie....nothing like home grown tomatoes...the smell of them growing .....hmmmmmm!
January 6th, 2021
@happypat You are quite right - that unique tomato smell - as soon as you walk into the glasshouse!
January 6th, 2021
such beautiful fresh colours. I can smell them from here.
January 6th, 2021
They'll be yum when they're ripe - homegrown as so much better.

I had a real summer garden and loooooooved the tomatoes I grew. Seeing these makes me yearn for the summer again--what will you make with them? I made gazpacho daily and tomato and cucumber sandwiches.
January 7th, 2021
@darylo I only planted this plant when I saw daughter's wonderful cherry tomatoes earlier on. That sharp fresh tang! We will have enforced tomato eating!
January 7th, 2021
Love that shade of green!

Good closeup

I wonder who is going to climb to the ceiling to harvest it.
January 7th, 2021
@yaorenliu Not anyone on a ladder that's for sure. But the glasshouse is only about 6 foot high!
January 7th, 2021
Looking good and I'm sure there will be that distinctive aroma in the air too.
