Tiny unknown.. by maggiemae

Tiny unknown..

I just cannot identify this sweet little bulb - it may not even be a daffodil but it is a bulb. It has come up after we tidied up the surrounding area last year.
Thankful for:
Jupiter is not mine tonight! I was prepared but too much cloud. Next opportunity, in 107 years time! Think I won't make it!
I would say it's a jonquil Maggie.. got a strong perfume?..

I thought the same as Julia, maybe a jonquil. The scent is so powerful.

sweet

I agree with you it is definitely a daffodil/narcissus type of flower. It looks beautiful against the dark background.

107 years is a long time but it’s always possible Maggiemae

I love the smell of jonquils …they remind me of the May Processions we had at church… I must buy some but haven’t heard the word jonquil for years….perhaps they are called narcissi these days?

A lovely, delicate flower. Very nice picture.

so sweet, it's unusual

@happypat Apparently all jonquils are daffodils but not all daffodils are jonquils. Of the narcissus family. Still can't find any identification of it though.

@julzmaioro Not noticeably, Julia - but the way the petals taper to a curl is the mystery. You would think I could identify it because of that!

@grammyn Race you to 2129, Katy!

looks like a daff to me Maggie, albeit a little 'un
September 28th, 2022
@phil_howcroft Its those petals tapering down to a curl, Phil - a mystery daff - or jonquil.

@julzmaioro @onewing Think I've found it! Narcissus 'Canaliculatus'! Nope - just used a plant identification app on my phone and it says, Narcissus Tazetta"!

Lovely capture. These narcissists bring so much light and joy.

@haskar I'd agree - we look out on the bunches of daffodils where the flowers are all the same level and bloom at the same time!
