Stopping here, not for a picnic but for a photo -- not so calm as it often is. Still the only good one today.
Good that:
We had some sleep this last night. Around 10pm when I had my head down, we heard the most almighty thunderous claps! It was like bombs going off. Couldn't see anything out the window but the noise was even worse with the door to the balcony open. Went on for 15 mins and strangely enough there were no sirens, no ambulances, no fire engines racing! We could not find out what it was and so slept fitfully. Next day, nothing on the news! The answer came from a Dunedin resident who said that Chinese New Year was being celebrated and finished with fireworks! The Chinese Garden was only a couple of blocks away and that was why it was so loud!
@dide Didn't find that out till 12 hours later. Still managed to sleep in between toilet visits. The bathroom light blazed when someone walked through the door and lit up the bedroom. It took at least 10 minutes to turn itself off!
