A determined tui..

I was outside with my good camera and I heard this tui's gorgeous notes! I crept closer and tried to focus but he flew away very quickly. This kowhai is a winter flowering plant and I think these birds are drawn to it. The kowhai is called "Dragons Gold'.

A very attractive tree…..it looks full of foliage so perhaps an evergreen? You have so many evergreens in NZ that you never get that bare winter look like we do. The Tui bird is quite camaflouged!
