never to go again.... Well I liked this moment when on a dull day the sun came briefly out and illuminated this antique clock face. This clock has an interesting history. It was much loved by my brother in law who religiously wound it up every week. When he died it was up to my older sister and she told us on a later visit that she couldn't get it to go again! I immediately started singing then abruptly stopped myself! You know what the rest of the words of this song are? Anyway it was given to my husband to look after and he brought it back to our home as hand luggage in the plane. On winding it up, it immediately started to go and has kept perfect time since! It is now his job.
Great story with wonderful pic. Oh yes, I was singing that song as i was reading the story. You and your husband are so fortunate to have this lovely piece.
Love this capture .... amazing story!! Now I have to tell you that I have a clock so similar and idential to this. We bought ours when we were in England and I just fell in love with it. It's weird .. ours only works when it's hanging "slightly off-kilter!" If you straighten it just a fraction of an inch, it stops! Strange, huh? I still love it tho even if it is quirky.
Harry & I have a clock very like this one which my mother in law gave us on our Silver wedding. This needs winding by hand too but we forget & so it too has stopped never to go again which is a shame because it has a lovely chime. We have had it mended but then it stops again.
