The Power of Water by maggiemae

The Power of Water

I chose this sort of processing so I could get the streams of water powering over the cliffs here in Niagara Falls! It really is a site to behold. This is the American side and you can see the plumes of spray going up in the air.
We were sitting having an iced water not far from here and got spray all over ourselves and... my camera!
Beautiful shot and one of my favorite places. I forget which side of the falls it is, but I could stand for hours, a few feet from where the water pours over the edge, and just marvel at the power and the beauty. Also love the boardwalk downstream and below the falls. Thanks! FAV

@rob257 Thanks Rob - I love seeing all the colours within the water as well as the thunderous sound!

@fbailey Nope.. we were told to by so many friends, but I thought they all looked like pink fluttering sardines...... so didn't! @busylady

Love the hdr treatment you have given this. I too love Niagara Falls and have been several times as my dad lives upstate New York so we go up to the falls and then on to Toronto.

@shepherdmanswife Oh do you?..... Glad you like the way the water ..falls..! Now just left Toronto -travelling to Kingston on the train - a nice meal served with the best cheese and now a small glass of cointreau and two pieces of chocolate! Canada never looks better - though its raining!
June 4th, 2017
@maggiemae sounds like you're travelling in style Maggiemae. Cointreau and chocolate are my favourites. Enjoy your trip. It's bed time for me unfortunately and its been raining here all day too!

@maggiemae have you reversed this as it looks as if it is the Cnadian angle? We loved Kingston. We took a tour on the open bus which gave us more of an insight into the architecture, life and saw the prison and naval base to. Interesting. Liked it better than Toronto. Enjoy your trip. Lovely photo btw.

Absolutely Fantastic capture and processing!

That has to be an awesome experience. I can't imagine the sound those falls must make. But you would never get me on that little boat next to those falls.
June 4th, 2017
Wonderful image! You should have gone on the boat it was a fabulous experience! I found it very moving! Such power and magnificence! Fav!

June 4th, 2017
@pamknowler I would imagine everything was moving in that experience - water, wind, people - all those people in pink!
June 4th, 2017
@shepherdmanswife I think I'll be looking at the bed too, after these treats!

Wonderful capture, love the water splashing so powerfully
June 6th, 2017
That is a fabulous photo - love the way it shows how much water is going over.
June 6th, 2017
It is an awesome sight no matter which side you're on. If you are ever there again though, you should go on one of the boats. There is nothing like riding up close to that thunderous roar. And to think they have siphoned some of it off before it gets to the ledge- can you imagine if all of it was going over?!
June 6th, 2017
I've never been to the American side and only twice, twelve years apart to the Canadian
June 9th, 2017
I have never seen the falls like this before!
July 4th, 2017
@skipt07 All you have to do, Skip is increase the contrast!
July 5th, 2017
@maggiemae - I meant from this perspective. Usually they are taken from the boat of at river level.
July 5th, 2017
@skipt07 Ah, I see - yes - we didnt do the boat ride - preferred to be squashed on the land rather than a boat!
