Carrera "Tunkan Ingan" snare drum

Tried to have a go at doing my own promotional photoshoot, using tripods and self-timers and such-like, for new gear, to go on my website. Turned out rubbish, though, so I scrapped it, and just chose one of the better shots to go on here instead.

For anyone interested in what this is all about -
I am playing the "Tunkan Ingan" - a new snare drum from Carrera Drums - on all my gigs at the moment. Instead of being built up out of multiple thin plies of wood, like most drums, this snare drum is one solid piece of birdseye maple wood, which has been steam-bent 'round, to form the shell. It is then inlaid, and French Polished by hand at the Carrera workshop.

I absolutely love this drum - I can't see myself using anything else on stage now, for quite some time!
Nice shot.

This is a really stunning portrait. From the direction of your shadow, I would guess the sun was actually over your right shoulder. But you got the exposure perfect, so what did you use to light your front side?

However you did it, the exposure and framing is really good.

One important thing about cropping: if you can take a sheet of paper and cover up a portion of the photo without taking away from its meaning or story, then you need to re-crop. I don't think your feet tell too much. In fact, it would have been a better crop if it were just from the drum upwards. Simple, concise, and powerful.

Yes, the sun was behind me. Thanks - I'm glad you like it!

I'll experiment with some different cropping a bit later (after work!) and see what difference it makes. ;) Cheers!
