They were both doctors, and got married the day after they graduated (and received the coats). She said her parents wouldn't pay for school if she got married before graduation. Going through a house where you've lived for 60 years yields lots of wonderful stories.
What a great story! Do you know of the author Sarah Addison Allen? She’s one of my favorites if you like magical realism. Anyway, her mother and her sister both passed away in the same year not that long ago. She has been going through their closets and writing the stories of some of the outfits for her niece and posting them on Instagram. I have loved reading about the things they wore and what they meant.

@margonaut I love her books. Garden Spells is my favorite and I just bought her new book, which is called Other Birds but I’m saving it for my train ride to New York in November.
