THE BIG TREE, KIRKWALL by markp

THE BIG TREE, KIRKWALL

When you live on an island with few trees, sometimes its necessary to take extreme measures to preserve the ones you do have.
Maybe some of our elf and hasty obsessed hack down happy councils should take note.
Rather than cutting everything down that got a broken twig on it.

This is The Big Tree, a 200 year old sycamore in the centre of Kirkwall in the Orkney's.
It won Scotland's Tree of the Year in 2017.

Reminds me of a surgeon's repair to a broken leg. Hope it keeps going for many more years.
