Its head hasn't turned bronze yet, but this skink is a beaut and the largest in the southeastern USA! More info, you're interested. http://srelherp.uga.edu/lizards/eumlat.htm
Beautiful pov and great lighting on him. Love your soft color tones and textures. WOW ... have never seen one before. Do they run fast? Now if he ran toward me, I'd have a heart attack. lol
@karenann Thank you, Karen! They do run fast! They can run the length of my backyard (about 40 yards) in about 2 seconds! They would never run at you. LOL! They only run from you!
I'm back Maggie.....Thanks for your patience and comments while I was "gone." I like the natural lighting on this, as well as the different textures. Really nice.
Now this is one Lizard I have yet to see !! A great capture Ma'am! your lighting and composition is wonderul and your focus is perfect!! Great Job my friend!! :)
What a great find, Maggie. It actually looks too clean to live there and a bit slimy but imagine that this is the light from the sun. A beautiful capture and fantastic detail. Love that eye. I have never seen one of these.
Oooh, a little skink, he looks so cute! I've only seen skinks two or three times and they never stop long enough for me to shoot them. Great shot, Maggie! What a wonderful capture of this little guy, I love the composition and lighting. 8)
Great capture Maggie - love the setting you have caught it in. We have water skinks in our area - they come in to the cafe during the summer months because it is cool with it's concrete floor. Customers who don't know any better think they are small snakes and nearly have a heart attack.
@lynnb Thank you very much, Lynn! Appreciate your comments and visit!
@sanfil Grateful for your lovely remarks, Sandra! Thank you!
@ellimae Thank you, Ellen! I had never seen one until I moved out here in the country, and still I only see them rarely! They are very shy and elusive fairly large creatures for skinks. This male was about 10 inches long.
@darsphotos LOL! So much leaf clutter around the screen house. It's where I found him. Skinks are very smooth where as lizard skin is a bit rougher. They are not slimy at all - just smooth. I have seen a larger one with a bright orange head but, he is too fast to shoot! Thank you for your comments and visit, Darlene! Most appreciated! xo
@myautofocuslife They are pretty elusive and hard to shoot, Livia. This guy is about 10 inches long and I found him sunning himself. Thank you for your lovely comments! Always appreciated!
@purdey I'll bet they cause quite a ruckus when they come in your place, too. LOL! These skinks will run from ya - not at ya. Thank you for your kind remarks and visit, Sharon! xo
@cimes1 I know, Carole! I lived in Orlando from '83 to '89. All kinds of lizards I had never seen before. But I never saw one of these until I moved out in the country here. Thank you for your comments! Always appreciated! xo
