I have four colors of crepe myrtles. The purple you saw in yesterday's pic and the pink in the day before that. Just waiting on the watermelon red to bud.
Trying to stay a little ahead here before things get a little hectic. 24 more to go!
@maggiemae Thank you, Maggiemae! A single blossom is pretty small. The rhododendron blossoms I've seen are much larger than these. They are really hard to focus on because of all their small frills.
@lyno The red hasn't started to bud yet. I trimmed it way back in the early spring, so it will get a real late start. Thank you for your lovely comments, Lynn!
Just love your pov, Maggie ... and the color and clarity is awesome! Gorgeous dof and very crisp. I am feeling sad already .. well, happy as can be for you, but well you know it's always hard when a friend leaves. And so many are leaving right now. :(
@wannabe Thank you, Catherine! It would be pretty colorful this year if I had really maintained my trimming.
@pskipper Thank you, Pauline! Can't wait to see them!
@karenann You are too kind, Karen! Thank you for your wonderful comments! Please don't be sad. I'll still be here, just not as much. If I hadn't got a job, then I would have to leave my home and I know I would not have internet for a long while. This way, I can still show up - if I can build up my stamina and do this job! LOL!
@daisy Thank you, Kathryn! Don't be envious. I bought this little place back in 2002 and all the shrubs and trees were already here. I've planted a few roses and one or two shrubs, but this is old growth for the most part. =)
I don't have a white. I have the purple that a little church lady gave me in a dixie cup that is now taller than me. I have a hot pink that is shaped like a tree and a small bush that is the raspberry. And I love every one of them. Got to look for a white. Gorgeous shots, each and every one.
Even though I love purple, I like the white the best in photo. Sure is a beautiful shot with the green leaves and green buds, Maggie. I will definitely miss you on here on a regular basis but know you will be around when you can be. Always take care of you first. So glad you worked so hard on your place and got that behind you. Hugs!
We were just in Tennessee last week and my sister in law has a crepe myrtle in her yard too! I'd never seen them--must not like the northern winters--but fell in love with the flowers!! This is so pretty! btw, do you mean 24 more to go to finish your project????? SO great!
(We here in CT are praying to an end to the catastophic drought. They are "downplaying" a bit here (except on Public Television), but people will get the picture when food prices go way up. As to the farmer plowing under his corn: I can't abide by that. It is an immeasurable outrage! I'm going to call the local TV stations and shake something up. And wouldn't you know, our senators and congressmen, etc. are on their summer vacation. Bah!) You take good care out there, Les
LOL! Our government run network media downplays everything bad unless it's been done by a conservative and of course, the opposite is true of anything good. I too, have seen the devastation of the drought on PBS which is odd for such a "progressive" run network. Food prices, fuel, clothing, everything will all be effected in the weeks to come. God help us! I really think you should rock the boat with the farmer being ordered to destroy his crop! This has been going on for decades though... even paying farmers NOT to grow crops that would make them a little money. I started hearing about this back in the 70s! I just hope the drought will end for the midwest soon and without any flooding! Oiy!
