That purple is gorgeous! I agree with Aaron, these flowers look like little ballerinas in their pretty tutus. A great perspective, and a fabulous shot!
@purdey Thank you, Sharon! Was it you that posted a passion flower a while back? I seem to remember seeing one and I did note the differences but, it was still beautiful!
@yonnie Aww! Thank you so much, Yvonne! You're up early! LOL! I haven't gone to bed yet. Trying to get used to my new hours before I go to work week after next.
@janturnbull Yes, these are really wild here, Janet. There are hybrid varieties that are grown and sold in garden centers but, this one is a wild and native vine here in the southeastern USA. There is a wild variety in the Pacific northwest that is a little different, too. There is also a wild variety in Australia that is also a little different. It is an unusual blossom. Thank you for your wonderful comments! Always appreciated!
Aren't these the strangest looking flower? They are a favorite of mine too, but they look like they can't make up their mind what they want to look like. Nice capture.
I love these Passion Flowers. They are so unusual. You must have had to stoop low to get this great angle. We used to call them Maypops because the fruit is a round green ball that pops when stepped on.
Gorgeous pov ... how beautiful the color and the textures are, Maggie. Hate the thought of you leaving tho ... hoping that you will be able to stay on with us! Have not been feeling great but am trying to catch up. How excited you must be. :)
Just when I thought you couldn't take a better picture of a passion flower, you do! This is so beautiful. The colors, composition, lighting, dof. Its just so beautiful!
@gabsview Wow! Thank you for your lovely comment and the fav, Gabrielle! You are too sweet!
@princesicita Thank you, Princess! Appreciate your comments!
@vernabeth Thank you so much, Beth! Yes, the fruit is called "maypops" or "passion fruit" around here. LOL! Actually this one is growing on one of my shrubs, so I didn't have to get very low to shoot it at this angle. =)
@lindag Thank you, Linda! I added a link to the post for those of you that were really interested in this plant. xo
@karenann Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments, Karen! Who said I was leaving? I will take a break and not be able to spend as much time here, but I'm not leaving. LOL! Right now I'm too tired to be excited. I was with my mom all day at the hospital. I still have so much to do around here to get ready - mow the yards again, shop for "lunch" groceries, etc. I haven't had the time to sleep in over 24 hours now. I think I'm just running on fumes. But trying to catch up some here for now. I really hope you feel better soon. Hugs!
@cdonohoue Wow! Thank you for your wonderful comments and the fav, Cathy! Most appreciated! Is yours "wild" or a hybrid variety? I think that makes a difference. Check out the link I added to the post.
Gosh, Maggie, I had no idea that this was a wild vine and flower! Maggie, where are you in South Carolina? We're headed to Pawleys Island on Friday - my family has been summering there for over 70 years!
@marlboromaam I planted seeds so probably a hybrid of some sort. I did check the link but all I have are leaves that really look like a pot plant and the curling tendrils that fascinate my every day. I shoot them at least once a day for my own viewing pleasure. I don't know if it will ever bloom.
You have the most gorgeous, beautiful, colorful and unusual flowers. I love this one, the colors and detail. It does look like a ballerina. Love it, Maggie.
