Dug up from a ditch down the road, but growing nicely on my old lattice work fence. Non-native from East Asia. This rose probably escaped from someone's garden hundreds of years ago. It covers ditches and grows up pine trees in the Carolinas and Georgia. More info on this little rose vine here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=1264
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Aww, Jackie! I would love to send you one, but with the way postal service is running these days, I don't think it would live that long. I'd love to dig you up a little vine, put it in a pot and take it to you. They cover the ditches on the road to my house. The county mowers just cut them down, but they come back every spring.
Fascinating history and a brilliant photo
