Sweetgum tree seeds... by marlboromaam

Sweetgum tree seeds...

All these seeds fell out of the few balls I gathered after the storm. The fertile seeds look a little like dead flies. The infertile seeds look like cracked corn. Either one will satisfy the birds and the squirrels.
Wow... lots of them! I like the texture of the leaf.

Looks like something that your fur kid might like to sample. Well captured.

@wakelys The birds already cleaned them up. =)

I like this closeup. If I ran across that, I would have thought for sure the fertile seeds were insect larva.

Great close up and lovely textures. At first, I thought that they were roasted buckwheat grains, which in Eastern Europe are called groats. They are the basis of healthy meals and I like them very much.

@ososki Thank you, Bill.

@haskar Thank you, Haskar. Interesting! I know these feed the birds and squirrels, so we could probably do something with them besides tinctures. =)
