Wood pecker riddled bark...

Your woodpecker has been very busy. I always think of Woody.

I rarely see a woodpecker. This is rather interesting to see the damage.

Wy does a woodpecker peck wood? If a woodpecker would peck wood there would be lots of holes in the wood!

I have never seen they make such lines! But I haven't really been looking either ...

@swguevin The mocker nut tree (in the hickory family) is a very hard wood. Its' been this way for years and still survives. The tree rats do more damage to its branches and leaves. I often see a little downy woodpecker hammering on the bark and I think that's what's made all the holes. Thank you for your kind comments, Sheila! Most appreciated!

@vickisfotos Thank you, Vicki! Appreciate your comments. See my reply to Sheila above. =)

@maggiemae LOL! So true! Thank you, Maggiemae!

@sassik Thank you for your comments, Sassik! The horizontal lines of holes are all up and down this tree.

@debsulzberger LOL! Thank you for the comments, Deb! See my reply to Sheila above.

@pawar_ramesh Thank you very much, Ramesh!

@marieooi Thank you for your comments and visit, Marie! Most appreciated!

@beckys Thank you, Becky! Got any mocker nut trees around? They're in the hickory family. If so, I'd bet you see this, too!

Well done in b&w. The tones are crisp, not washed out. Nice patterns even though I wince at the damage!

@danette Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, Danette! Mocker nut tree wood is very hard. It's in the hickory tree family. This tree has been this way for years and continues to get new rings of wood pecker holes. It has survived and I think it will continue for a long while yet. =)
