So glad I got this shot. Something ate the blooms down to the nubs before it had a chance to produce a seed pod. This is disappointing. I keep track of how many of these little plants grow under the pines and it's decreased from seven to two. I'm going to have to place chicken wire around them to protect them now.
@dutchothotmailcom Thank you, Esther! They are very slow growing and small plants in the wild. They won't bloom again until next spring and not all plants will bloom. If they can't produce seeds, they will disappear completely.
It's too pretty a plant (from your link shot) to not try to save it somehow. Don't think I've seen it before. Do home they are able to reseed and grow again next year.
