About to get on the interstate - on the way home. I thought the sky was fabulous with those clouds. Started my second round of gel injections for my knees. Needles? I'm getting used to them. Phone shot.
Ten years ago I had my knee joints replaced …
BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.
Both needed to be done but I did not want…
Two surgeries
Two anesthesias
Two rehabs
Two recoveries
Not sorry I did it that way. My husband was still working at the time so my single cousin stayed with me for a month.,. Took me to the doctor and rehab. My new knees are AWESOME,
Most important advice?
Do everything you are told to do.
Do rehab, do rehab, do rehab.
I did not play golf for a year (no regrets).
My knees and my range of motion is better now than prior to surgery.
My only regret …
Why didn’t I ask them to make my legs one inch longer?
@mamabec I'm glad it worked out for you and I do appreciate all your advice. Unfortunately, there's no one to look after me if I'm down from knee surgery and no one to look after my mom in ALF and take her to the doctor. I worked at an Amazon warehouse for nearly eight years and wore out the cartilage between the bones in my knees by walking 12 to 15 miles per day (this is NOT an exaggeration) on that concrete floor, and compressed my spine to where it pinches the nerves and causes sciatica and other pain. The gel injections may only be a stop gap, but they do help. My neurologists are doing the best they can to keep me vertical. The gel injections can be done every six months and are covered by my medicare advantage plan. I've done rehab in the past for my knees/back and it did not help either based on my conditions. I also wore big hulking braces on my knees for five years while I was still working. Starting decompression therapy at my chiropractors again soon and that helps my spine a whole lot. I need to get in a yoga class where I don't have to drive 50 miles to do it because this online/TV crap just doesn't get it for me. Not to mention gas prices and having to drive that far. A lot of yoga places closer to me were closed during the pandemic and have not been able to reopen.
@365jgh Thank you, Judy! They worked before, but didn't last very long. Hoping this time, they'll last much longer.
@kjarn Thank you, Kathy!
