Carolina wild jasmine vines... by marlboromaam

Carolina wild jasmine vines...

Along with green brier, virginia creeper, muscadine and scupadine - plenty of them around here. Hoping for a plethora of aromatic yellow trumpet blooms from the jasmine next spring. =)
Like those crisscross branches .

Jasmine is a rampant vine if not checked! We have one that will put up new vines even when cut back to the base! The flowers are not fragrant either. Must be different species!

@maggiemae This one is rampant, if it gets started. It's the state wildflower for South Carolina. It's very fragrant. Native species to the Carolinas and Georgia. More info here. =) http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=600

My jasmine is flowering at the moment and the fragrance is divine! I totally cut it back last year and it grew back with revenge ;-)

They do go a little mad if not kept in order but the rewards of pretty fragrant flowers are worth it if you have the space.

@ludwigsdiana I usually don't trim the jasmine, but the wisteria is another story. It does smell heavenly! =)

@wakelys The jasmine is fine where it is. It's the wisteria next to the deck I have to fight with, and the green brier and virginia creeper. LOL!
