For the eastern spade-foot toad. It's really a frog - not a toad, but you can read about that in the links below. My neighbor called me and told me to bring my camera! Said there were hundreds of frogs in his "seasonal pond." I've been hearing their chorus all throughout these past rainy days. It was a froggy orgy going on with frog eggs all over the pond! They spend most of their life underground and only come out when there's a deluge of rain to breed. The little spade on the back of their hind feet is for digging and they are the only frogs to have vertical pupils like cats eyes.
