When will it rain! by mave

When will it rain!

Walked across the Common to St Neots this morning. Everything looks parched. It must be weeks since we had any rain. The grass is all brown and even though the weeds are still growing, they are very small. These dandelions are struggling to keep their heads up. And fhe mallow is about a quarter of its normal height and the flowers are much smaller.
Must be 7 or 8 weeks now here for rain... and forecast sy we only go up with temperature :( we could also use some rain in the Netheralnds.. but its good to see that some plants have huge reserves and still going strong...

It’s amazing how resilient the wild flowers are. I love the mallow.

@susiemc The only green on most lawns are the dandelion leaves! Thanks for your comment

@carolmw @gijsje thank hou for viewing and commenting. Most of the grassy areas are brown - not green. But the weeds still bloom!

The weeds show up nicely against that brown dried grass...very brown up in Cumbria today!

The dried grass has a pink cast which looks rather nice to me. No rain here either, just 100+ degrees!

@gardenfolk wow. That's hot!!
@happypat I have only seen Cumbria green. Thanks for commenting

Still pretty looking- interesting that the plants know how large to grow with less rain for water.

The grass looks like ripened hay! We desperately need rain.
July 19th, 2018
Amazing how the hardy weeds and wildflowers ( the true natives ) will survive whatever the weather ! Everything is parched here too !

@olivetreeann @megpicatilly I liked the contrast between the yellow dandelion and the purple mallow. Thanks for commenting

@beryl The weeds and wildflowers seem to be conserving their energy ........ clever! Thanks for your comment

Lovely colour contrasts. I hope you receive rain soon. We are really needing rain as well :)
July 19th, 2018
Lovely flowers to brighten the parched grass. Hope rain comes soon .
July 19th, 2018
The only green on our lawn belongs to the weeds.
July 19th, 2018
@foxes37 It's the same here. @happysnaps @hermann I like the purple mallow flowers. Thanks for your comments
July 19th, 2018
@hermann thanks Sally. I think we all need some cooling rain.
July 19th, 2018
We’ve had one brief shower & that’s all! The grass is very dead looking & although i’ve Quite enjoyed the warmth the poor garden is desperate!
July 19th, 2018
So sad to read your narrative. I'm glad you have a little color anyway.
July 19th, 2018
Weeds always seem to survive droughts unlike expensive plants in the garden .It must be two months since we had rain it is sad to see the dead grass.
July 20th, 2018

July 20th, 2018

July 20th, 2018
@onewing @bkbinthecity thanks for your comments. It is so dry. Make sure you drink enough
July 20th, 2018
Lovely even if it is a sad image. Love the colour of the parched grass that fills the empty spaces of the shot.

@sangwann Thank you Dione
July 20th, 2018
Very pretty shot. I hope you get some rain soon.
July 20th, 2018
We had a little rain tonight, not nearly enough though. The only good thing is that the grass doesn't need much cutting!
July 20th, 2018
@mittens @suzanne234 We had a little rain tonight too but not as much as forecast.
