ALL LIVES MATTER by mbrutus

ALL LIVES MATTER

And so many of them were squandered on this date 76 years ago. My father landed on that same beach some thirty days later and served the rest of the war. There is a good chance that myself and my siblings would never have been born had he landed on this date.

It was a strange sight, several days ago, to see this flight of WWII era fighters flying in tight formation over the same San Fernando Valley where so many of them were manufactured so long ago. Almost like a ghost flight. Or a time warp. I saved this photo for today, as a D-Day remembrance. The world has other worries at the moment. But thankfully, amphibious military landings are not among them. Be well. Stay safe.
I’m with you on “All lives matter!” My uncle was a pilot, shot down and killed in the Normandy invasion. His younger brother was a pow in Italy but made it home when the war ended. We owe everything to their bravery.

@redy4et We owe everything to them. What kind of planes did your uncle fly?

What brave young men, from all walks of life, fighting to keep us free. May we never forget. 🇺🇸 I like the old warplanes, this is a great image.

Was thinking about D-Day this morning, too. Though I was quite young and was fortunate that my father wasn't directly involved, I can still remember the patriotism that was so prominent during those years. Do wish for that feeling to return to the U.S. All lives DO matter.

Sad how the response echoing your title caused a man to lose his job. Apparently he wasn't sufficiently sensitive. Crazy. Nice shot of the fighters - I went out and shot them too when they did the So Cal flyover, a very inspiring scene.

Most assuredly so. The greatest generation did save us all. A very fitting tribute.

Darkest days...
Unfortunately there are still wars in this world. I fear that the willingness to use violence will increase.

Darkest times in human history...

Unfortunately there are still wars in this world. I fear that the willingness to use violence will increase.
My dream: that one day there will be no more war equipment.
