Still Life with Pretty Rocks and Kitchen Thermometers

Messing around with the kitchen thermometers for my get pushed challenge from Joyce @thistle to photograph a kitchen object in an unusual way. I see now that she, in fact, said, "photograph a kitchen utensil, indoors and in an unusual way." Well this is not indoors exactly. It's on the back porch (screened in, so sort of "indoors."?) It was getting darker by the minute, so I had to experiment with the camera settings to see if I could get it to come out. I tried it first with the porch light on and got a much better resolution -- seen here: http://365project.org/mcsiegle/alternates/2015-08-31

but the porch light made a big bright white reflection on the big thermometer's glass. And the colors don't look as close to the actual, despite my adjusting white balance. So this was taken with some ambient light coming from the kitchen and higher ISO, upping the exposure, and resulting slower shutter speed. I took a bunch at various combinations of settings. I think this is about the best. Not an inspired still life -- but not where you'd usually see the thermometers, so tending in the unusual direction.
@thistle -- not what you wanted, but I'm tagging you to demonstrate the sincerity of my efforts.
