Still life with grapes by mcsiegle

Still life with grapes

For my get pushed challenge from Jackie to do a still life based on a painting. I admit that this is not based on a particular painting, but on a number of different ones I saw online. Lots of still life paintings use grapes — more commonly red grapes, but green is what we have and I think they make a nice contrast to the overall dark. I particularly liked ones with dark backgrounds. I saw one or two with an overturned vessel — glass, goblet, bottle...and the faded roses seemed a good pairing, as did the addition of the bird skulls. I’m rather drawn to the vanitas and memento mori types of still life etc.
Wonderful still life
